Broccoli and Cavatelli
Try this classic Italian dish, pasta and broccoli served in a garlic and oil sauce.
Equipment
- Large skillet with lid
- Measuring and cooking utensils
- Microwave
- Strainer
Ingredients
- 1 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic about 5-6 cloves
- 10.5 ounce bag frozen broccoli florets
- 1 bag frozen cavatelli
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic and herb seasoning such as Mrs. Dash
- parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions
- Cook broccoli in microwave according to package directions; drain well.
- Heat oil over medium-low heat. Add garlic and spices. Cook 1-2 minutes.
- Add broccoli to skillet. Cover and let steam for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, cook cavatelli according to package directions.
- After steaming, the broccoli will be tender enough to break up easily into smaller pieces. Drain pasta well and add to pan. Cook on low heat for at least ten minutes before serving.
- Top with your favorite parmesan cheese and enjoy!
Notes
Make sure your garlic and herb seasoning is salt-free. If it isn't, add salt to taste at the end.
You can also use fresh broccoli instead of frozen if preferred. Steam broccoli for five minutes prior to sauteing it in oil and spices.
