Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1.25 lbs ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small to medium onion diced and sautéed
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp parsley
  • 2 tbsp ketchup plus 1/4 cup, reserved
  • 2 slices white sandwich bread soaked in about 1 cup of milk
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  • Place white bread in a small bowl with milk. Set aside.
  • Dice and sautée onion in olive oil over medium heat for about 5-8 minutes. Set aside to cool.
  • Mix ground beef and all other ingredients in a large mixing bowl with clean hands. Add onions once cooled.
  • Place meat mixture onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Mold into loaf form. Top with about 1/4 cup of ketchup. Brush evenly to coat.
  • Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 30-40 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before serving.
